Credit System
Access to processed resources and support for the Genealogica project
What are credits?
On Genealogica, some resources can be accessed with credits. The system supports the work of transcription, indexing, proofreading, source organization, and technical development.
By using credits, you access the resources processed by Genealogica and support the work through which difficult-to-navigate historical documents become easier to search, verify, and understand.
Credits do not represent payment for the historical documents
At a glance
-
1.
You receive credits monthly
Regular accounts receive 50 free credits each month, while Contributors receive 200.
-
2.
The cost appears before access
Credit-gated links show a badge with the number of credits that will be consumed.
-
3.
Same-day return access is included
After opening a credit-gated page, you can reopen that same page on the same day without being charged again.
Monthly free credits
Each user receives a monthly number of free credits according to the account role.
Free credits renew monthly. The time remaining until renewal is shown in your account, in the credits panel.
| User type | Monthly credits |
|---|---|
| Utilizator | 50 |
| Contributor | 200 |
When are credits consumed?
The platform subtracts credits only where access is protected and the cost was shown in advance.
First page access
Credits are consumed when you open a record, register, nominal list, resource, or narrative document that has an access cost.
Same-day access to the same page
For the same page, access remains valid during that day. If you return to the same record, register, resource, or document, credits are not consumed again on the same day.
PDF exports are separate
Exporting one record consumes 10 credits, while exporting one register consumes 50 credits. The cost is shown before the export is generated.
How is the cost set?
The cost depends on the source type and the work required to process it: transcription, paleography, verification, structuring, and indexing.
Important: The cost is indicated by a badge # displayed next to the link, so you know before opening it how many credits will be consumed.
The table below describes the standard rule. If a register has an individual cost set by the team, the badge next to the link remains the final source of truth.
